A historic boat is to be renovated after being moved from its previous home by the ExCeL Centre to a new mooring at Trinity Buoy Wharf.
The SS Robin is the world’s only surging complete Victorian steam ship and has now returned to a spot just 150m from where it was first built in 1890.
It now forms part of an open air museum dedicated to the Thames’ maritime history with plans to improve access to the boat via a new platform.
SS Robin Trust chairman Eric Reynolds is looking forward to improving access to what is a historically important vessel.
He said: “We’ve moved here to Trinity Buoy Wharf where we have a 125-year lease so we can guarantee a long enough future to make the extra work which is required to complete the SS Robin educational project make sense.”
