Two teenagers have been charged following furniture being thrown off the top floor at Westfield Stratford.
The boys who are 14 and 16 and both from Hackney, East London, were charged on Tuesday with criminal damage with intent to endanger life, according to Metropolitan Police.
Due to their age, they cannot be named for legal reasons.
A video of the act, which took place on the 1st of March, was posted on social media and quickly went viral.
In the video, one of the boys hoists the seat over a balcony on the top floor and watches it drop, narrowly avoiding shoppers below.
The person behind the camera is heard saying: “There’s no way this guy’s doing it. Oh my God.”
The video was also posted on Snapchat with the captions: “No way bro almost killed someone” and “Nahhh” with two laughing emojis.
Westfield in Stratford attracts 50 million customers annually and is home to over 300 UK and international brands.
The shopping centre boasts over £1bn in retail sales and is the biggest urban retail, leisure and residential destination in Europe.
The pair will appear at Stratford Youth Court on Tuesday the 6th of May.
