Bow Arts are once again throwing open their doors for Bowfest: Open Studios, Bow Road’s much-anticipated annual event.
On Friday 21 and Saturday 22 June, guests will be invited inside over 100 studios across the iconic Bow Road site which is the charity’s first and biggest studio location.
Artists will have micro galleries, stalls or displays of their work which the public can appreciate at their leisure.
The event also gives patrons the chance to meet more than 100 talented painters, sculptors, product designers, performers, jewellers, fashion designers and more from the Bow community.
Bow Arts’ iconic Victorian courtyard will host a makers market, together with food and drink stalls from the Nunnery Café.
Bow Arts is an arts and education charity and a social enterprise which supports artists across London and creates spaces and opportunities for them to connect with their local communities through school programmes, workshops, exhibitions and events like Bowfest.
Bowfest will open in style with live music on the Friday evening and a free family workshop for young people of all ages on the Saturday where participants will have the chance to create vibrant prints on a variety of textured materials, inspired by cherished memories.
Alongside the festivities, the Nunnery Gallery will be exhibiting a collection entitled ‘Bow Open x Lindsey Mendick’, Mendick’s curation of Bow Arts’ artists under the topic “A Personal Treasure”.
The Open Studios is an event for all ages, and a unique opportunity to find out more about the celebrated community of East London creatives gathered together at Bow Road. You can meet the artists, learn more about their creative processes, or purchase an artwork to take home.
All artwork, in the studios, the gallery, and the café will also be available to buy using Own Art, the affordable art scheme that enables buyers to spread the cost of an artwork across 10 interest-free instalments.
