This year’s UK Coffee Week is being held across London from the 16th-22nd of October, in order to raise funds for Project Waterfall.
Every year for one week the coffee industry and its customers come together to support Project Waterfall, a charity that brings clean water, sanitation and education to coffee growing communities that face a water crisis.
Since 2011, the week has raised over £1 million for Project Waterfall.
This year 100% of funds raised will support their latest project in the Berbere district of Ethiopia to give back to the communities that grow our coffee.
When asked about the importance of UK Coffee Week, director of Project Waterfall and UK Coffee Week Rebecca Hodgson said:
“UK Coffee Week provides a chance for this thriving coffee industry to give back to the communities that grow its precious beans. This year, more than 450 coffee shops across the UK are joining forces for the project to raise funds for the cause through organising events, raffles and bake sales.
“This project not only improves the health of the people living in Berbere but will also bring economic and environmental benefits. Improved accessibility to safe water will increase productivity meaning members of the community will have more time to pursue economically productive pursuits.”
Many events and pop ups are being held across London during the week to raise funds.
Customers can visit the old Spitalfields Market for coffee at home masterclasses, the Nobu hotel for immersive coffee tasting, art exhibitions and many more events.
