Women runners feel safer running at night after joining an all-female run club that started this Autumn.
Fitness influencer Lily White founded women’s running group ‘The Night Club’ in early November as evenings became darker and she felt unsafe running alone.
An adidas study last year found 92% of women are concerned for their safety when they go for a run,
Lily said: “Running really helps your mental health, and to be able to do it with girls and women during the winter makes it so much more enjoyable because we can chat and make friends and build a community.”
So far, the weekly club has run through Battersea Park and Central London and is accessible to all fitness levels, with each 5km run set at a conversational pace.
The club is free and takes place every Wednesday evening, with ticket links released on Lily’s instagram.
